This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining successful operations of an assigned area, department, or shift of the warehouse/distribution center. It ensures that the department has adequate staffing, proper training, the needed tools and resources, standards of productivity, safety and sanitation, proper procedures of selecting/staging/receiving/loading, and quality that will meet customer/agency demands for accurate, quality, on-time deliveries.
Specific Departmental Duties:
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:00pm 8:30pm
Department: Receiving/Inbound This supervisor will oversee the receivers and put-away teams in the warehouse inbound operation. They will be responsible for researching and resolving any weight discrepancies discovered by shopping, receiving errors discovered by inventory, or general donation issues from donors. Training and coaching these teams for accuracy and efficiency are expected too, put-away verification, as well as working with inventory control to reduce loss & waste due to errors by the team.
Essential Functions:
Direct and motivate teammates
Communicate company and department information to teammates
Listen, address, and follow-up to teammate concerns, questions, and problems
Facilitate communication within warehouse leadership, and between warehouse leadership team and teammates.
Understand Warehouse goals and standards, implement department procedures to meet those standards and promote them to gain buy-in and positive results from teammates. Standards may include, but are not limited to productivity, order quality, waste, shrink, safety, sanitation, turnover, and overtime.
Ensure department and warehouse procedures will cut unnecessary costs, add value to agencies, and improve morale and the work environment for teammates.
Monitors and controls the discarding of all waste, factoring in the possible use of food for other purposes.
Ensure the work environment is maintained in a clean and safe manner following government and company food safety regulations.
Supervise and manage daily work of department teammates
Maintain all departmental paperwork and reports
Create and maintain schedules and job assignments of department teammates
Provide training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable workforce.
Enforce all Warehouse policies and issue coaching/corrective action as needed
Ensure adherence to proper operational and safety procedures
Comply with company work and safety rules
Be a visible and vocal advocate for safety
Be trained to and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days of hire
Relieve other supervisors during their vacations
Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the Warehouse; work schedules may require working an early shift, staying long for a late shift, and weekend work depending on the Agency and operational requirements of the Warehouse
Work in warm and cold temperature conditions that may range from -10 F to 110 F.
Periodically stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp, and reach above the head as needed
Assists in any other duties as assigned.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all internal/external customers of St. Marys Food Bank with an excellent service experience.
Scope and Complexity:
May interact with all levels of leadership, employees, agency representatives, community neighbors, volunteers, external vendors, and clients.
Physical Demands/Environment Factors:
Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma: Associates degree or minimum five years work-related experience.
Minimum of three years demonstrated and successful warehouse supervisory
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, as well as warehouse management system computer experience
Demonstrate the ability to lead by example
Have experience leading large groups of warehouse staff with experience in hiring, training, motivating, and resolving employee relations issues
Forklift certified
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multi-task.
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivates employees
Basic knowledge of math; add, subtract, multiply, divide.
Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and teammates
Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and make quick decisions.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Proficiency with receiving, order selection and shipping procedures.
Must be able to lift 50 LBS or over.
